The Artist

Born under the creative Aquarian star sign in Zimbabwe in the late 1960s, Jill grew up in a time where basic necessities were in short supply and imagination made drums out of tin cans.   

Jill has been creating in different art forms for as long as she can remember.  This creativity was nurtured further when in the early 1980s Jill auditioned and was accepted into the Art, Ballet and Music School in Pretoria, South Africa.  With a thirst for creative knowledge, Jill also enrolled in jewellery design after school, where she qualified as a manufacturing jewellery designer, working with precious stones and metals.  In 1991 Jill opened her business, Heart of Gold, where she specialized in unique custom designed jewellery. 

 1998 saw Jill pack up Heart of Gold and become a citizen of the world, following her husbands career around the USA and Europe and finally settling in Sydney, Australia in 2001.  During this exciting time abroad, Jill broadened not only her artistic knowledge to include Art Glass, but also developed her deep appreciation for the extraordinary planet on which we live and the very diverse people who inhabit it. 

 Whilst proudly Australian, Jill truly considers herself to be a global citizen. 

 "There are so many wonderful places, beautiful people and glorious tales to hear. I don’t feel compelled to choose. You have to appreciate the whole planet and the people on it to keep it alive. "

With this in mind, most of Jill’s creations reflect and are inspired by these life experiences. 

"There is always a reason behind everything that happens in life. I like to incorporate this same philosophy into my work. "

 When creating a commission piece, Jill also likes to obtain a true reflection of the person for whom the work is being created. 

 "To create something uniquely for a person, I need to get a true feel for them, who they are, their values, and where they see themselves in the world. The piece needs to reflect them, needs to have a purpose and a reason for being. I do not consider these works to be just another gift that can be purchased at any mass-production department store, but an extension of the recipient something that they will hand down to their future generations, a memory of themselves."

 Because of this dedication to the individual customer, personalized commissions are not able to be re-produced .

 Much revered for her talents by both her customers and her peers, Jill is a vivacious, inquisitive and dedicated artist with an extensive background in custom made jewellery. She endeavors to continue pushing creative boundaries, as her beautiful works make their way to all corners of the globe.
